At Jy Fencing, having installed vinyl fences for many clients, we can attest to their many qualities. We have also gained invaluable experience that enables us to install structurally sound vinyl fences you will enjoy for decades.

For a fencing material that can withstand the harsh outdoors, require no maintenance, is easy on the eye, does not rot, offers good privacy, and is fairly affordable, it is hard to look past vinyl.
First introduced in the 1980s, vinyl is a viable alternative to wood and metal fencing. Wood fences rot, warp, and require a lot of maintenance while metal fences corrode and require as much maintenance.
Vinyl fences can stand up to the toughest of conditions, including strong winds if set deep enough. When you consider its strength, attractive appearance, and resistance to weather damage, vinyl is the most practical choice for fencing material.

How Well Does Vinyl Fencing Hold Up?

Wood has been the fencing material of choice for generations. It is widely available and affordable. It also has lots of character, has great versatility, and is easy to work with. That said, it is susceptible to rot and weather damage and makes a good meal for termites.

Vinyl is the only fencing material that seems to offer wood’s desirable qualities while avoiding its main weaknesses. It produces attractive looking fences that hardly need any maintenance. A synthetic material, vinyl can even be made to mimic the appearance of wood.

Importantly, vinyl has great endurance and won’t discolor or warp because of moisture or excessive sun. It does not rot and won’t be damaged by termites. While wood can last up to 20 years if properly maintained, vinyl can endure with little maintenance and no signs of wear or sun damage for five times longer.

Vinyl Fences Cannot Be Damaged By Pests

Vinyl is an incredibly durable material that, unlike wood, is virtually indestructible by pests. It is made from such a tough plastic that pests cannot chew, burrow, or scratch it.
Being a plastic, you would probably worry that vinyl would expand and contract with temperature changes and become so brittle that it will crack and break. It will not. Modern vinyl fencing is engineered to handle the most extreme temperature changes.

Is Vinyl Fencing Fire Resistant?

It may surprise you that vinyl is not flammable and poses no greater fire risk than wood. Classified as ‘self-extinguishing’, vinyl has a flashpoint of 900 degrees.
Vinyl does not ignite easily and has properties that allow it to self-extinguish. Unless your whole neighborhood is dealing with a large blaze, most fire damage will mostly be cosmetic and will be easy to repair.

Vinyl is a Practical and Sustainable Fencing Material

Vinyl makes a great choice for fencing material. It does not rot, chip, nor discolor, and has good impact resistance. It is a fabulous, low maintenance fencing option, with an attractive, modern look that will compliment any property.
Importantly, vinyl is a non-toxic material, meaning you can be reassured that you aren’t securing your property at the cost of the environment’s wellbeing. The material is also highly recyclable. When you finally decide to replace your vinyl fence, there should be no reason for it to end up in a landfill.

Do Vinyl Fences Fade?

A fence has to be secure, repairable, and durable, qualities that vinyl fencing delivers on. But that’s not all a fence does. Another of its primary functions is to frame your property for the best aesthetic appeal. Again vinyl delivers on that.

Where some property owners intending to install vinyl fences aren’t so confident is whether the material can maintain its looks, especially against excessive sunlight. Will your vinyl fence discolor and turn yellow from UV radiation?

Modern vinyl is protected with titanium dioxide, which is a UV shield that prevents sun bleaching. The UV protector allows the vinyl fence to reflect the sun’s rays and prevent any sun damage.

Is It Safe To Power Wash A Vinyl Fence?

Since vinyl will not easily discolor on account of harsh weather, the only risk of discoloration will come from dirt. You will be happy to know that most stains on vinyl can easily be cleaned using a detergent.
To make cleaning a large vinyl fence more manageable, you may consider power washing it. But is it safe to power wash a vinyl fence? Can it withstand the pressure? It is safe to pressure or power wash your vinyl fence. It will not topple over or lean.
